One True Media!

Make a video - it's fun, easy and free!
www.onetruemedia.com

The video above was created and posted by one of my fifth grade students.  I am a huge fan of alternative assessments, and by the time we finished our immigration unit, it was time for a break from our traditional pencil paper tests.  I gave my students access to my educator account at one true media (you have to email them telling them you are a teacher and you get 50 free users!) and a list of what I needed to see (evidence of their learning) and they produced some of the best products I have seen in a long time!

For this particular "assessment", I asked students to show me that they knew the following:
1.  Why immigrants came here
2.  What Ellis Island was like
3.  What happened when they got here
4.  Contributions

How they did that was up to them!  I am always amazed at what magic happens when we loosen the reins and let our students take the lead to show us what they know.  Check out One True Media in 2013!

  3. Thanks all! It is such a user friendly site and my kids can't get enough of it - we'll be making book trailers with it too. =)
